Our Rabbi

Babe Sale Congregation is happy to welcome Rabbi Meir Sultan as the new rabbi for our kehila. He comes to us from his current pulpit as associate rabbi of Congregation Shaarey Yerushalayim in Valley Village, and is also well-known as the region’s leading Sephardic mohel. He lectures and teaches widely.
Rabbi Sultan, 33, was born and raised in Montreal to Rabbi Aaron Sultan and his wife Molly, both immigrants to Canada from Morocco and leaders of the Montreal Sephardic community. Our new rabbi studied at Yeshivat Mikdash Melech and Torah Ore in Jerusalem and later received his semicha  from Rabbi Noah Weinberg of Aish HaTorah, and from Rabbi Zalman Nechemia Goldberg, chief justice of the Supreme Rabbinical Court of Jerusalem. While in Jerusalem, Rabbi Sultan focused a good deal of attention on secular Jewish college students and professionals, bringing them home to the beauty and meaning of our faith.
The new rabbi is personable and approachable in any of the four languages he speaks – English, Hebrew, French, and Spanish. His passion for the significance and power of Judaism is evident in the many meaningful relationships he has built through his teaching and sharing. As a spiritual leader, his pulpit is marked by intuition, sincerity, and great textual scholarship. He is married to Yocheved (a native of Los Angeles), and has two children: Aaron (9) and Ariella (4). He comes to our kehila determined to inspire a spirit of youth, energy, and emotional connection to our faith and to each other.

We look forward to partnering with him in taking our vibrant Baba Sale community to ever greater heights. He can be reached at
